To Be…Expectant
April 27
Are we praying with positive expectancy? Do we believe God will answer our prayers in the way that is best for us and his glory?
If we are praying for rain, do we put an umbrella and rain jacket in our car no matter the forecast?
Elijah kept sending his servants to look for a rain cloud.
Noah kept hammering away on the ark, even when friends and neighbors ridiculed him.
I bet Hannah had a family cradle polished and waiting, while she cried out to the Lord.
"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
John 14:13
Why do we pray? Jesus is teaching us that we pray for answers that will bring glory to God's name. Hannah knew that. After weaning Samuel, her answer to prayer, she gave him up to serve the Lord. The Lord blessed her with three more sons and two daughters.
The crib is finally up in our daughter's new home. A great sign of positive expectancy. We've prayed a long time for this baby. Even given up expectancy at one point. Now we are praying with positive expectancy for the safe arrival of this grandchild. These two parents are waiting to train this baby up to love and serve the Lord. God will get the glory!
We arrived home at 2:45AM last night, from our first NFL draft party in SC. It was so exciting and we met amazing people and rekindled old friendships. A young man who has been in our lives his whole life has been waiting expectantly for whichever team God orchestrated to draft him. What a process of faith! He was projected to go near the end of the first round, but it didn't happen, so we watch and wait tonight, by faith, for God's best for him. Mason Rudolph loves the Lord, so my prayer is God will place him with a team and city where his faith can flourish!
