To Be...Peaceful
December 15-16
"On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, 'Peace be with you." When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when the saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.'" John 20:19-21
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
Many churches have a time in their service titled "Pass the Peace." You are to turn to someone near you and say, "Peace be with you." And how is that possible? Not in our own strength, but by welcoming the Son, that was given, the one who carries not only the government (as stated in Isaiah 9:6) upon his shoulders, but He carries all of our sins. The forgiveness of our sins enables a peace that passes understanding to come upon us.
When we worship the Christ of this Christmas we are celebrating Him as King of kings, and the Lord of lords, we receive Him also as our Prince of Peace! A steadfast Peace, a perfect companion, who never leaves us, but guides us through all circumstances that life conjures up!
Let's shout out a hallelujah for God sending Jesus, our Peace, to us.
It is a gift from God to experience this peace that passes all understanding.
