Be Welcoming
Be Welcoming
A warm welcome makes you feel as if you belong. We have no idea what the people walking through our doors Sunday morning are facing in their lives. Most everyone enters the house of the Lord believing they will be safe, loved and welcomed.
A smile has the power to warm a heart no matter the age of the recipient.
A friendly smile makes you happy, and good news makes you feel strong. Proverbs 15:30
We have the opportunity each day to freely give away smiles and the Good News!
When the crowds learned it, they followed him (Jesus), and he welcomed them and spoke to them of the kingdom of God. Luke 9:11
Allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with the gift of welcoming.
Jesus said,
And when you welcome one of these children because of me, you welcome me.
Matthew 18:5
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, Matthew 25:35
Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. Romans 15:7
Peter taught that even though it might be a hardship Christians we should offer hospitality to Christians traveling and needing shelter and food.
Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 1 Peter 4:9
Possibly it was Paul who penned these words.
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2
“Our God is a welcoming God. He welcomes anyone and everyone who believes on Jesus into His family. While He lived on earth, Jesus always welcomed anyone into His presence or to wherever He was preaching at the time.
With Jesus as our example, we should never be shy about welcoming others. Whether it’s welcoming friends into our home, visitors into our church, or just saying hello to a stranger on the street, as Christians we should display the welcoming attitude of God.” By Gracie Robinson
