Beholding and Becoming #8 Praising Even in Failure

The photo is just to make those of you who know him laugh!

Chapter 8 is on letting go of control and even praising in failure.

"Friends, when we are tempted to serve the idols of control and self-assurance, let us remember them for what they are-false and deceiving masters. Let's turn instead to our sovereign and faithful God, who does all that He pleases to bring Himself glory while He demonstrates His steadfast love.  When we place our need for control within His hands, we become reflections of His glory and steadfast love, And that, dear friends, pleases Him very much." Ruth Simons

This chapter alone makes this book worth the purchase! Ruth takes her readers to Romans 8:1-4  and points out the there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.  For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

We are going to have failures, but there are great lessons to learn in those failures that will lead us to future successes!

"Our greatest fear should not be of failing, but of succeeding at something that doesn't really matter." D.L. Moody  Read that again.

I think back to last Saturday's photos from 3 of our grandchildren's competitions. While they all experience victory on that particular day, they have all experienced heart wrenching defeats. In victory and defeat Jesus loves us just the same and has a purpose in the process.
