In the Twinkling of an Eye
As I took a time out to reflect on the people who remembered my birthday with gifts and cards, I reflected how friends truly are an earthly treasure. Stop right now and lift up to the Lord the names of friends you cherish and ask Him to bless those people in an unexpected way today that makes them smile!
This world is not our home, but while we are here it certainly is nice to have friends along for the journey.
One of the names on a card I received has just left this earth and gone home to be with Jesus. In a twinkling of an eye we will be changed. It’s a sweet thing to think of the friends with whom we will spend eternity.
I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed — in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality 1 Corinthians 15:50-53
What Paul is telling us is that our mortal, sinful, and corrupt bodies cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. This earthly body must pass away as we Christians, those who believe and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will inherit a new body that is free from all sin, sorrow, sickness, and death. Now that's a reason to say Hallelujah!
Today we will gather at church to celebrate this man's life and commit to love and support his wife, daughter and grandchildren in the months ahead.
