Happy New Year 2010
January 1
The lyrics were a no brainer as I awakened and thought about the new year ahead.
Onward Christian Soldiers rang out in my mind.
A bit of history from Wikepedia reads:
"The lyric was written as a processional hymn for children at Horbury Bridge, near Wakefield, Yorkshire. It was originally entitled, "Hymn for Procession with Cross and Banners." According to the Center for Church Music, Baring-Gould reportedly wrote "Onward, Christian Soldiers" in about 15 minutes, later apologizing, 'It was written in great haste, and I am afraid that some of the lines are faulty.'
He later allowed hymn-book compilers to alter the lyrics."
Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war.
With the cross of Jesus Going on before!
Christ, the royal Master, Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle, See His banner go!
Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war.
With the cross of Jesus Going on before!
At the sign of triumph Satan's host dost flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers, On to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver At the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, Loud your anthems raise!
Like a mighty army Moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading Where the saints have trod;
We are not divided; All one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, One in charity.
Onward, then ye people, Join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices In the triumph song;
Glory, laud, and honor, Unto Christ the King:
This thro' countless ages Men and angels sing.
We have falter as a body of believers in this nation to hold our banner high.
We have backed down in battle and allowed privileges to be removed and
Biblical truths to be compromised.
We have sat in front of newscasts in disbelief of how far things have gone.
May 2010 rang out with revival in our land as we unite in not only prayer,
but in our actions and in triumphant song that this land is your land, this land
is my land and this land should be run in the way in which it was founded...to be pleasing in God's sight! Our God is a righteous God and mighty in power.
All morning God keeps taking me to a piece of molding over our TV niche.
I've looked and looked for the message He was trying to tell me and finally
got it.
Websters defines mold: to determine or influence the quality or nature of;
to form into a desired consistency or shape.
Let's Pray: Lord, You are the Potter, we are the clay...mold us and make us into what you desire today. May we not stiffen or become hard hearted, but stay pliable knowing You have great plans for us! We pray especially for the men in women in uniform who fight for our freedom and also for the men and women whose hearts are being stirred to run for political office. I pray for our daughter in law's father, Scott Rigell, and ask your blessing on his campaign and protection for him and others like him who are willing to step out into the mess of government and make a difference.Raise up leaders of integrity! In Jesus' Name, Amen
