A Look Back
June 16
Walking with a friend this morning I expressed how interesting the various seasons of life are. She replied, reflecting on life in her late 50's, "I don't want this season to end!"
Our faith has seasons as well. Some of us are just beginning to explore what it means to trust in the Lord. Others have been consciously "working on a walk" with the Lord for decades and we still slip on the path!
Paul' purposeful passion for pastors is palpable.. Ah, we should be as faithful as Paul was to write and encourage young pastors! Old ones too! He is writing to Titus who is serving the church on the island of Crete. Paul shares a realistic reminder with Titus in 3:3-5, one which we too should take into account when we look at others.
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
Lord, Your eyes are upon us all. Mighty is Your power. How quickly we forget where we have come from and the grace that has been extended to us through Your Son. May our eye sight be keen today Lord, Keenly aware of those who need to know their Daddy and the love He is waiting to share. Make us willing vessels to pour out Your love.
In Jesus' name, Amen
