Reliable

November 1

Ask God for a "word" but be ready for Him to work in your world...
I mean get into your personal space! Squish, squash!
During my quiet time Saturday morning I received a "word" from the Lord. "RELIABLE" Oh, how I loved it and my brain began thinking...Yes, Lord, you are so reliable. Oh, Father, I thank you for all my friends and family members who have been so reliable over the years.
Looking up the definition of the base word "rely" was further confirmation to the comfort of this word in light of who God is:
:Able to be trusted; predictable or dependable,
To be dependent for support, help, or supply:
To place or have faith or confidence:

Step two of looking up scripture brought even more happy thoughts as I read:
Reliable friends who do what they say are like cool drinks in sweltering heat—refreshing Proverbs 25:13
!
Ooh, that was so nice I looked for another.
[ Doing Your Best for God ] So, my son, throw yourself into this work for Christ. Pass on what you heard from me—the whole congregation saying Amen!— to reliable leaders who are competent to teach others. When the going gets rough, take it on the chin with the rest of us, the way Jesus did.
2 Timothy 2:1

The life lesson began. While having a reliable God and reliable friends and family is a delightful benefit of being a believer, the real questions was..."Does God find me reliable? Can I be trusted to teach his Word and pass on what I know about Him with a hearty "Amen!" Am I willing to take it on the chin for Jesus?" That is where the rubber meets the road and the purpose of being created to bring God glory goes into action.

Gracious Father, Creator, Redeemer and Friend, who sacrificed it all on the cross for each of us and exemplifies reliability to perfection, find us dependable, trustworthy and faithful today with whatever or whomever it is You are entrusting to us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we shine Jesus shine in what can be a dark and dingy world. In Jesus' Name, Amen
