Watching Grass Grow

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you.
We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened
with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.
Colossians 1:9-11

A fun spring activity is planting wheat or rye grass inside for a splash of color and the anticipation of spring.  My husband wishes grass would grow as quickly in our yard, as it does in our kitchen!  New growth is exciting, whether it is the trees bursting forth with new leaves or a toddler learning to take a step, it is a joy to anticipate.
Do we get as elated over our spiritual growth?
It is thrilling how many people have tuned into the history channel the past few Sunday nights to watch the series called "The Bible".  While Hollywood takes some liberties with such productions, the hope would be that the viewing would spur a deeper desire for growth and people would open their Bibles and allow spiritual growth to take place.
I think spiritual growth has seasons, just as grass does.  There are times we are well watered, fertilized, and growing at a rapid pace. Then we have our dormant stages where we cease to sprout a sign of new growth!
