To Be...in Training

Bathing his cousin!  Training for bathing his baby brother to come this spring.

February 7
Years ago, when our children were under seven years of age, I embarked on what we've called our college pin pal. It ended up involving more than writing letters. It involved investing deeply in the lives of these young people.  One of those pin pals is still a part of our family.
He was such a training ground for me as a mom.  I learned college kids don't always show up when they say they are coming, but they still love you.  One weekend we were expecting four football players, so I had cooked for three days in preparation.  Something else came up and they didn't come to town.
The next stage was job hunting. Then we walked through the dating and engagement stage of life with him. Such good preparation for what was to come for us.  Now we've watched and prayed as this godly couple has parented their three children into the college years, so it's grandparent training for us.
We are always in training.
"Blessed be God, my mountain, who trains me to fight fair and well."  Psalm 144:1

Paul was passionate about training up others to carry the gospel.  He loved Timothy so much and invested heavily in him.  Whose life is God calling us to invest in?

"Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, trying yourself to be godly."
1 Timothy 4:7

"But don't let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers-why, you took the sacred Scriptures with your mother's milk!  There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.  Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another-showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way.  Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us."  2 Timothy 3:16

đŸ’—This emoji is called "a growing heart."  That is what our hearts are called to do..grow in the love of Christ.
