To Be...Fruitful

Apples and grapes

October 2
A fall harvest is fabulous. Yesterday, we were able to escape to Carter Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville and walk along the apple orchard and grape vineyard.  The majestic mountain view left you praising the Lord.

Galatians 5:22-23 in The Message says this about the Fruit of the Spirit.  It's worth a triple read to see if this correlates with the way we are experiencing life.
"But what happens when we live God's way?  He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard-things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity.  We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people.  We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life,  able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

As we toured the orchard, there were workers diligently tending to the maintenance of this vast property.  All the trees and vines require care and protection.  We are the same way.  Our fruit bearing is dependent on that to which we are attached.

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you.  By this My Father is glorified-that you be bearing much fruit, and be disciples to Me.  Just as the Father loved Me, I also loved you. Abide in My love."  John 15:7-9
