Resuscitate

There are days we feel like we could use a little resuscitation.
Resuscitate-"make active or vigorous again."
Just through speaking a command Jesus brought Lazarus back to life! The Old Testament prophet Elijah was involved in some resuscitating expeditions. In 1 Kings 17:17-24 Elijah was staying in the home of a widow during a severe drought. Her son became ill and died and she thought it was the result of Elijah staying there. Elijah took him to his room and cried out to the Lord,
"Lord my God, let this boys' life return to him!" And He did!
In Shunem, Elijah often stayed in the home of a couple. One day their young son died and the wife set out to find Elijah, carrying the body of her son. Elijah had his servant take the boy back to the home and Elijah stretched his body over the boy's body to warm it and prayed to the Lord. The boy came back to life.
Elijah's successor, Elisha, is part of an incredible "being made vigorous again" tale. After his death a burial was taking place in the same area Elisah was buried. Out of fear of some Moabites approaching the grave diggers threw a man's body into Elisha's grave and were ready to flee. Just from the man's body touching Elisha's bones, the man came back to life and stood up on his feet!
1 Kings 13:20-21
I have a friend who has been sitting by her husband's bedside for months. She has seen him brought back to life by a hospital "crash" team and thanked the Lord for saving him.
While we may not see a "back from the dead" miracle in our lifetime, we will experience an amazing resuscitation experience when we die and come back to life in a heavenly body!
A great story of resuscitation took place on the cross. By believing in Christ, the criminal on the cross became vigorous again in heaven.
"Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' Jesus answered him, 'Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.'" Luke 23:42-43
What a great reminder it's never too late to be made active through Christ!
"If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you." Romans 8:11
