Soul Food- God Did It!
David strengthened himself in the Lord his God 1 Samuel 30:6
David’s action of strengthening himself was intentional. Think of him before Goliath. The key element of this process was remembering what God HAD DONE for him in the past. Oh, that we would all be people who are found saying, "Do you remember when God...?" What if at the end of every day, as we sat around the dinner table or in a car at a drive through restaurant we shared "God did it" stories.
Kay Swatkowski wrote, "Too often we wait for others to come along and nourish us. We hope that someone else will strengthen us. We blame others for our lack of joy or our stagnant condition….We cut ourselves off from the very things that would give us peace and joy: worship, study of God’s Word, prayer, community, and nature… Our soul's health and welfare are too important to outsource."
What soul food will you ingest today to strengthen yourself spiritually? To whom will you be found faithful to talk about the Lord and tell of what He has done?
Heavenly Father I pray our grandchildren will learn how to take responsibility for their own spiritual growth and intentionally strengthen themselves in the Lord with God’s Word. May it become habit to open God’s Word daily and seek His face. May it excite our grandchildren to hear from the Lord and may they be quick to tell others of all he has done. In Jesus' name. Amen
