Scalpel Scripture

The 80 degree temperatures this past weekend had our roses blooming again.
It was an unexpected blessing.

Bible teacher, Paige Brown, did a wonderful teaching on "Why We Study God's Word" a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, she only leaves her Youtube classes up for 1 week, so I want to take the next few days to share some highlights from this class.

"Scripture is like a scalpel. We are willing to allow a surgeon to cut on us to make us better physically."  Let's allow God's Word to transform us spiritually.

Isn't it crazy the lengths we go to to enhance our physical condition and then just dabble occasionally on deepening our spiritual well being,

Hebrews 4:12

God's word is alive and powerful!  It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts.

She goes on to say, "God's directions for us are nourishment and flourishment. His Word grows us into Christ likeness. There's no benefit in knowledge if we are not transformed through Him.

Jesus told the people who had faith in him, “If you keep on obeying what I have said, you truly are my disciples.  John 8:31
