Check Your Posture
Paige Brown challenges "Check your posture."
My mother had perfect posture. I think mine disappeared after 10 continual years of diaper changing and carrying or picking up babies/toddlers from the floor and cribs.
Browns states: "We read where Jesus's teaching in Matthew 13 ends with 'He who has ears left him hear.' "She asks, "Have our hearts dulled? Is there a willingness to come to scripture with submission and reception? Don't have a casual cavalier posture. There should be a pre-commitment when we come to the scripture. We come to His Word with confidence because of His love. The reading is the means to the purpose of Christ likeness and growth.
We want to be Christ covered, not confronted.
The purpose of the Bible is to change. I have been crucified with Christ, the old is gone the new has come.
Agreement is not obedience.
Knowledge is not holiness.
Conviction is not repentance.
Doctrine is not doing.
The Bible can become more important when we allow Jesus to become more important."
Let's read back over those four comparisons and ask the Lord where our posture towards Him needs to change.
