Marriage Matters #5

February Heart Quote

"Jesus had a humble heart. If He abides in us, pride will never dominate our lives."  Billy Graham

Verse Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

The wife I mentioned, who had been decieved by her husband yet chose forgiveness and to begin a prayerful process towards trust in her spouse once again, wrote to me saying, "God is working in ways that only He can.”

What happened will probably always lurk in the back of her mind, like a death does, but we learn in Romans 5:3-5 suffering has purpose.

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

This makes me think of the joy that comes after the immense pain of childbirth or the beauty from a bulb covered in dirt.  Think what it takes for that bloom to push up from underneath the dirt. Growing and sustaining a marriage takes work and can be a painful process at times, but their is great beauty in God's plan for two to become one.
