3 Days Make Such a Difference
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...1 Peter 1:3(CSB)
I've shared before that I do not like scary movies and preferably those without more than 1 moment of a "mean girl" attitude or "cruelty of comments" thrown out. Yes, that limits my viewing options. Likewise, the lead up to "Alleluia, He is RISEN" part of the last week of Jesus' life has me close my eyes, bow my head and not want to reflect on the life giving sacrifice on the cross that my sins necessitated. But that reflection is pertinent to all of our salvation stories.
So much happened that last week. Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and was loved. He taught and prophesied for two or more days. Then he held the Last Supper with his beloved disciples, but dang, Judas ruined the party. Thursday evening Jesus was arrested and all the things I wished hadn't happened to him happened, ending with his body hanging on a cross, with his mother watching. Then Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea buried his body in a tomb.
Then the Sabbath happened and Jesus rested in the tomb. Christine Caine, wrote a book and referenced this day after the crucifixion as "Silent Saturday." She goes on to write that "Saturdays are never silent and Resurrection Sundays always come."
“In our lives, Silent Saturday is something we experience when we hope, pray, dream and expect what God has promised, only to find ourselves waiting. Waiting on the answer, the fulfillment, the promise. It’s that in-between place where Good Friday is behind us, and Easter Sunday is ahead of us-that place of tension where it seems like everything is dead and lost. Nothing is happening. But as followers of Christ, we hope. We stand with faith. We endure. We stay expectant. We press on.” Christine Caine
