Purpose

The Valentine decorations are out, but no one has been able to get here to enjoy them.

Our private road and driveway are still a challenge, but I continue to learn to be content with the stillness and thankful there is no yard work for my husband.  Spring will be here before we know it, so for now we will embrace where God has us.

I awakened this particular morning and thought…”What day is it?  What is on my calendar? It took a moment for my spiritual brain to catch up and over take the worldly part and ask…”What is it YOU have for me this weekend Lord?”

Last week in Community Bible Study we were meditating on the Psalms of ascent.  Some of the questions about the 12 tribes’ ascent up Mt Zion stuck with me and I went to Got Questions.org  Consider these three points:

1) “The journey UP Mt. Zion reminds worshippers that meeting God involves leaving ordinary routines and moving toward His Presence. (Isaiah 2:3)"

Being intentional to make space to seek the Lord

2) “The ascent underscores unity. No tribe stays behind, everyone ascends together. (Psalm 133:1)”

That made me think of so many of you.  We are part of different denominations, different upbringings and in different seasons of life, but we love being together learning and encouraging one another.

3) “Even Jesus’ family made the climb annually showing the enduring call to gather. (Luke 2:41-42)

And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25

Discussing our weekly lesson I asked the ladies this question…. What do you hope for in the Lord?

Two ladies quickly answered “Peace.”
Later, another woman said to me, “I hope the Lord will show me my purpose at this point in my life.”  What a great response!  Our life circumstances are constantly changing and will continue to change this side of heaven, but God always has a purpose for us here on earth as well as later in heaven.

In a P31 devotional “Living Your Story for His Glory” by Tracie Miles she wrote:

"God doesn’t need your life to be perfect. He needs it to be purposeful. That struggle you’re walking through? That disappointment that crushed your plans? That secret from your past? It’s part of your story that can show others how God turns pain into purpose.

Life is too short to waste it comparing, complaining, or waiting for things to be ideal. The world needs to see real people living real faith in real time. Right now. Your actual, imperfect, beautiful story can show others that God is present, faithful, and working in the everyday moments we so often overlook."

Amen!
