Tuesday, a group of us had the privilege to tour "Rockledge" a beautifully restored home atop Mill Mountain in Roanoke, VA. There is something exhilarating about standing on a high place and looking out on the vastness of God's creation. This weekend, in the beauty of spring, find a place be it an ocean, lake, mountain, desert, field or plain to stand before the Lord and simply worship Him.  No requests, no regrets, just pure love poured out in adoration.  About that time Jesus went off to a mountain to pray, and he spent the whole night there.     Luke 6:12 I lift up my eyes to the hills, f rom where does my help come?  My help comes from the   Lord ,    who made heaven and earth.  He will not  let your foot be moved;  he who  keeps you will not slumber . "Did he just tell me his name is Jezebel?" I asked my husband as we were on speaker phone with a rather rude, arrogant airline representative concerning a reservation that had been totally botched and caused 8 charges to show up on our credit card.  At one point, getting no where with this man,  I asked him to please connect us to his supervisor and that's when he said, "I am the supervisor my name is ...Jezebel."  I was speechless.  He had a strong foreign accent and the sound of that name sent shivers up my spine.   In the Bible, Jezebel is described as evil, scheming, immoral, shameless, licentious, crafty, malicious, revengeful woman with a reputation for murder, iniquity, and sexual promiscuity. Me oh my!  Quite the reputation. The Hebrew meaning of the name is “not exalted”    or “Where is the prince?” which is a phrase used in Baal worship.  Jezebel and her husband, King Ahab, are credited for bringing Baal worship ...

  A fun activity here at Shiloh is to give the grands pads of sticky notes and let them create works of art.  My husband was surprised to find his bathroom and toilet were turned into a sticky situation! Pretty clever. What is the last sticky situation you were in (and I'm not talking about peanut butter)? Moses and the Israelites really had their backs up against a wall. Psalm 16:8 When we think of giants in the Bible our minds gravitate to Goliath and how the unlikely hero, David, equipped  himself with his sling shot and five stones.  Those stones can equate to five characteristics that carried David to conquest.   1) Commitment-hearing Goliath's insults against his God, David was committed to take a stand. 2) Courage- David was not afraid. He trusted in God and the skills he had given him. 3) Communication- David spoke God's truth exposing the lies and insults of Goliath. 4) Capability-while not a trained and experienced soldier, he had fought lions and bears....

Chat with a child today. They have great insight. Too Small to Ignore , a haunting recent read, has left my husband and me challenged to pray for those entrusted with a child and personally do more for children ourselves.  Jesus loves children!   Since we are having a wordy week... The phrases “Jesus was aware”, “Jesus offered” and “accept the generous offer” stopped me in my tracks.  I was reading the story in John 4 of the Samaritan woman who encountered Jesus at the well.  Without her saying anything Jesus was aware of this woman's spiritual condition. He was aware of her current marital status and living situation.  Like many of us, this woman was tying to fill herself up and quench a spiritual desire with worldly comforts.   Jesus offered her the same Living Water he offers us which will never be depleted.  When she accepted this offer she was changed, freed, and compelled to tell others of her joy. So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?”...Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.” ...
