Mangled Mess

May 2-3

Our next door neighbor's husband died back in February.
He had purchased land to provide an alternative road home for those of
us living at the end of an easement road, instead of the existing one
with a very nasty neighbor.
Leaves had piled up between the two properties and no one had moved them,
so yesterday my husband took it upon himself to get the enormous job done.
His technique of power blowing with two blowers cut the project time to
three hours.

Fortunately, he was watching as he blew for he uncovered a nest of snakes!
In their panic to evade the exposure they entangled themselves in the seed
mesh the road builders had laid down to secure a bank. I approached with
my pitch fork in hopes of freeing some of them, but they just panicked more tightening the grip the mesh strands had upon them.
I have sorted out some yarn snarls in my day, but I was not up for sorting
four live snakes hissing at me.

Running from the rough spots in life often gets us entangled in a mangled mess.
This sight I saw yesterday was such a vivid picture of hidden sin exposed and
how instead of confessing our sins and allowing Jesus to redeem and free us,
our running leads to a deeper entrapment.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Let's Pray: Merciful, gracious, compassionate, kind are the
adjectives of praise we lift to You this morning Father. Oh, we do weave
some tangled webs! Today we come confessing the areas of our lives where
we know we are falling short, as well as pleading with You to reveal those
things which we have hidden deeply in our hearts and try so desperately to
cover up. Cleanse us and set us on the correct path. Whew, how blessed
we are that Your mercies are new EVERY morning! Today is a new day and
we begin by praising you. In Jesus Name, Amen

Check out this week's new song.
