Spread the Joy

May 18th

Today we look at Mark, the shortest of the four Gospels which recount the life of our Savior. Stuck in the middle is a call to our servant attitudes. This attitude is a far cry from those of American Politicians. This response from Jesus is triggered by James and John requesting to be the ones who sit on the left and right of Jesus in glory.

When the other ten heard of this conversation, they lost their tempers with James and John. Jesus got them together to settle things down. "You've observed how godless rulers throw their weight around," he said, "and when people get a little power how quickly it goes to their heads. It's not going to be that way with you. Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not to be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for many who are held hostage. Mark 10:41-45

Jockeying for position expends much more energy and emotion than serving!
The most joyous occasions are when we are spreading joy by serving others!

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.- Hebrews 6:10
