Unchanging
Ever since "the germ" of 2020 there have been changes made that may never go back. I needed to get my passport renewed and use to be able to schedule an appointment here at our little local office, but now you can only go in person if you have an emergency or a trip scheduled in the next three weeks. Otherwise, everything must done via mail. Businesses have found they can function with fewer employees by eliminating in person services. This may never change.
The other huge change is very few people want to do service related work. If they can make money via their phone or computer in their pjs from home, that is the preference. We have all had to lower our expectations when it comes to in person experiences such as shopping, dining out, lawn care, the availability of builders, or repair and maintenance personnel.
Church wise my husband says he doesn't ever see us going back to passing an offering plate or serving communion from a common cup or picking up bread or wafers from a common plate. Now we have individual peel back plastic cups containing the elements which we place in each seat.
I was prepared for airline travel to always require a mask, but thankfully that policy has returned to the old normal.
Changes in elected officials often bring change in protocol and policies at many levels. Praise the Lord we live in a nation where we still have a voice. Where voices are silenced, prayers are still heard!
Our church offers a weekly "Recovery Church" for those affected by addictions. All these people and their loved ones are longing to see change.
But God is a different story. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end and his character is consistent and His Word never changes. Great is His faithfulness.
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)
The Song (Whew! The ending gave me chill bumps.)
