Like a Vanishing Mist #3

Image
You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.   James 1:14 There are times we think life is moving so slowly and the weight of the wait concerning what is to come seems like it drags on forever.  Then you get old, like me, and you realize how fast the pace really is.  Just as the morning mist burns off before you can look out the window again, life has vanished and hopefully we are on heaven's door step at the feet of Jesus. I dropped a birthday gift off for a friend the other day and she said, "I'm so ready to go when Jesus calls!" Monday night at 6:00, the international program called "Grief Share" began a 13 week series at our church.  My husband and I are attending. Fifteen people gathered to share of the unexpected ways they have lost a loved one.  People they loved dearly have vanished from earth, like the morning mist, and they are walk...

Disappearing Mist #2

Image
I made your rebellious acts disappear like a thick cloud and your sins like the morning mist. Come back to me, because I have reclaimed you .  Isaiah 44:22 God forgives our sins and leads us into His loving presence.  Hallelujah! God who created the clouds and mist, has no trouble sweeping them away from the sky and “sweeping away” the sin in our hearts. He provided the way, because of Jesus’ death on the cross. The sun burns off the morning mist and Jesus, the Son, removes our sins like the sun disperses the morning mist when we come to him with repentant hearts. When looking for songs about morning mist  this instrumental piece popped up. I'll be honest, the first time through I couldn't sit still 3 minutes and just listen.  Then I went back with the attitude of asking God to uncover the sins I was keeping covered  in my heart.  It was a beautiful time of repentance and healing. The Morning Mist #1

Image
Living on a mountain top lake it's not unusual to look out in the early morning and see mist on the water and in the trees.  In a 24 hour period the term mist  was referenced in 3 different Bible studies or devotionals I was reading and God had my attention.  I think I will make this a 3 part series for all three verses hold different lessons. Therefore they shall be like the morning mist or like the dew that goes early away, like the chaff that swirls from the threshing floor or like smoke from a window.    Hosea 13:3 The book of Hosea breaks my heart. Gomer is the girl who keeps on sinning and God makes Hosea take her back again and again, like He did with Israel and does with us. In this verse the prophet Hosea is pointing out that just as the sun burns off the morning mist and the dew and the dry land remains, the same would be true for rebellious Israel.  Their riches and wealth would depart from them and they and their children would be taken c...

PEACE

Image
Anne Neilson is a favorite artist of mine. She paints beautiful faceless angels and has expanded her product line over the years.  The painting above is one of her's she used as a part of the devotional below, which she wrote regarding peace. Check out her website.   https://anneneilsonhome.com Prepare.  Prepare your heart! How do you do that? First, dig out anything that would hinder an intimate relationship with God. Psalm 51:10 says,   Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  — NKJV   Many years ago, I taught a group of young children about clutter in their hearts. I used a beautiful bowl, decorated on the inside with bright, beautiful colors, as an example of what our hearts are like. Then we discussed how things like lying, meanness, and jealousy upset God and make our hearts dirty. We wrote down all these things on pieces of paper and then wadded them up and filled the bowl so that we were no longer able ...

Security

Image
A text came from our son saying his 2 year old daughter had installed a security system in their home.  These are all her stuffed Paw Patrol Pups! What makes you feel secure?  Is it your finical situation, a dream job, a faithful spouse, an amazing home or car with the newest safety features. I've seen everyone of those situations falter in my life and the lives of others close to me. Our only consistent security, that comes with an eternal guarantee, is found in Jesus. We may not always get our wants, but in Christ Jesus, we can be sure that God faithfully provides all our needs. Even more, He will never fail us nor abandon us! Hebrews 13:5 You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the LORD is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it's in your power to help them . Proverbs 3 :25-27 The Song "Joy in the Morning" by Tau...

Fox Tales or Tails

Image
A Moonriver Drive fox encounter.  This fellow was in no hurry to get out of our way. So, the photos led me to inquire of any lessons the Lord might have for us regarding foxes in addition to the fact that Jesus said they had dens, but he didn't have a place to lay his head.  Well, I came across a whopper of a story and wanted to share some sermon notes from an Arkansas pastor related to Judges chapter 15. "Sometimes we read a Bible passage and we have to stop and say “this really happened. I’m reading something that really happened a long time ago.” We have to say that from time to time because from time to time we read about Samson lighting the tails of three hundred foxes on fire and setting them loose. I mean, admittedly, there are some pretty amazing things that happened that are recorded in your Bible. And I don’t mean “God made the universe” amazing, because things like that are  so  big there’s nothing to compare them to. I’m talking about those things ...

Puddle Jumpers

Image
These six puddle jumpers have been hanging out at our house lately. They all have rain/snow boots and they have been having fun jumping puddles and splashing in the creek.  There has been some mud stomping too. Boys will be boys!  One of the sweetest things about having them around is hearing the words, "Mama Boo,  I love you" at random times. It's such a pure love because it hasn't been prompted, it genuinely comes from their heart and melts my heart! Today I am going to find time to play the "guess what I am writing" game and draw  "I 💗 you" on their backs.  I started with my husband before he went to work, drawing that on his hand, and he jumped for joy!!!  Those three words thrill others! I challenge you to find creative ways to tell ten people you know that you love them today and two people you do not know that God loves them.  You might even leave a "You are loved" note in a random space...a public bathroom, a check out co...
