Beholding and Becoming #2

Its fun to light your own candle when you are eight.

Happy Birthday to this sweet one.

"From the moment we wake, before our feet even touch the ground, we feel the frenzy of the coming day and the pressure to hold it all together and think to ourselves: I am in control. I am in control. I am in control....We are so convinced we're in charge that we ultimately worship our busy lives....Worship is esteeming a thing or a person " Ruth Simons

You rule the day and the night, and you put the moon and the sun in place.
17 You made summer and winter
and gave them to the earth. Psalm 74:16-17

Oh, I was a planner when our six were living at home.  I thought I had it all under control, but I wasn't the one keeping the day together. It's always the Lord ordaining every moment and I certainly didn't give Him enough glory for all He did back in those days.

...to him who made the great lights, for his steadfast love endures forever;
the sun to rule over the day, for his steadfast love endures forever;
the moon and stars to rule over the night, for his steadfast love endures forever;
Psalm 136:7-9

One of our grandsons has a beloved stuff raccoon named Chester.  Chester makes everything better.  Maybe you had a security blanket. God's steadfast love is the security blanket we can cling to all of our days as we are becoming who God created us to be.  Do you know Him as your mighty comforter?
