Beholding and Becoming #4
This granddaughter is beholding a beloved old pony and becoming confident in the show ring.
Chapter 4 in Beholding and Becoming is titled "God's Perfecting Work Through Daily Practice." I chuckled how Ruth Simons compares a beginning pianist plinking away on piano keys trying to learn to hear the melody, to us leaning how to walk by faith. She says, "Practice makes progress, not perfect."
That is so true of athletes as well. Our grandchildren are learning jujitsu, surfing, horseback riding, golf, soccer, and football this fall and they all have lots to learn. It is the same with us in this faith walk desiring to overcome sin.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus...Hebrews 12:1-2
With endurance we can keep running to Jesus!
