Storm Prep
We have 16 family members who live in Florida and oodles of close friends who call Florida home as well. They are all making decisions related to hurricane Ian. One son and his family of four live in Tampa where mandatory evacuation orders are in place. Our daughter in law has been food prepping in anticipation of losing power. She's Florida born and bred and knows how to prepare.
She shared that the public schools announced Sunday that they would be closed all week as they transform into shelters. Some people were leaving buckets of snacks and necessities in the classrooms for people who will be using the school shelters. I love that. Disasters give us such a platform to show the love of Christ.
Peter was in a boat with the disciples on the Sea of Galilee when a major storm commenced. It's the wonderful story of when he saw Jesus walking towards him and in faith he walks on water towards Jesus. When Peter shifted his attention away from Jesus he sank. That happens to us as well, doesn't it?

“Storms are not an option, but fear is... We cannot go where God is not. Look over your shoulder; that’s God following you. Look into the storm; that’s Christ coming toward you."
Again and again God's Word reminds us that we will have trials, we will face storms, but we will never be alone and there are lessons to be learned in the trying times.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. — Joshua 1:9
‘Don’t be afraid,’ He said. ‘Take courage. I am here!’ — Matthew 14:7
How do you prepare for the storms of life?
Is your Bible open? Are your prayers pouring forth in faith?
