Waiting Here For You

Andrews Christmas 1988

They all fit on our prayer bench at the end of our bed.

This December I'm attempting  a slower pace. I say this every year!

Being married to a pastor rarely allows the pace to slow at Christmas time. We have our tree lighting, followed two days later by a singing competition and the next night a ladies paint night. Sunday we have a float in the local Christmas parade in the town where our main campus is located, and Monday a Christmas tea for widows in our church will be held at our home.

In my attempt to slow the pace I have signed up for an Advent study called Waiting Here for You, by Louie Giglio. (Of course Im late starting.) You can sign up through Studygateway. com and receive a code to log in to watch the videos.  The study guide is good, but if nothing else try ordering the devotional.

On Day one Galatians 4:4-5 appears.                                                                                 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

The fullness of time. What are you waiting to see God fulfill?

God is always working while we are waiting. The older I get the easier it is to trust in His plans, because I have seen His faithfulness again and again.  I know His ways are NOT my ways and his purposes have ETERNAL value, not equated with the things of this word.

Think of all the people who went before us who never held the written word in their hands. It was almost a century after Jesus' death before all four gospels of the New Testament were written and we have a written record to share related to our King!  The messiah. Jesus the Son of God.

So many of us are waiting to see loved ones come to faith in Christ.

The Jews are still waiting for the Messiah.

"Almost two millennia have passed since the New Testament canon was completed, and though the Word is full of grace and truth, and though the birth, life, and death of Jesus fulfilled a staggering array of prophecies, the Jews as a people have yet to open their eyes and ears. But Jesus is coming again, and one day a remnant will both see and hear." Gotquestions.org

My mind shifted and thought about the 400 years of silence.                                     400 hundred years of not hearing from God.  Whoa.

What may have to wait this month, while you have your time with Jesus?

Set an alarm on your phone to spend time just listening to the voice of Jesus and singing praise to Him during his birthday month. It's the best gift we can give Him.

Im planning on meeting Him by the tree each day with my Bible open and a song from my voice, reaching to the heavens. When my husband walks in the door from work, after a good kiss and a chance for him to put on his "cozies" I want us to sit by the tree together (and if others are in the house they will just have to join us) and talk about Jesus.

We should make the most of these earthly moments for in the fullness of time Jesus will come to take us home.

It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:26
