In the Details

Rodney the referee!

Yesterday, I wrote about clarity related to the weekly encouragement I've been sending some high school athletes.
One category I try to include each week in my encouragement to them is "accepting things in the world of sports we cannot change."  The weather, injuries, coaches, 0pponents, etc.

This particular week it was the referees. That word went incredibly well with the word clarity God had placed on my mind.

What happened under those "Friday Night Lights" made me laugh out loud and strengthened my faith as far as believing God is in the details.

After a play, chaos ensued on the field and 3 flags went flying in 3 different locations. The game announcer stated that never in his career calling high school or college games had he seen 6 referees circle up and take so long conferring.  You could see the lead official scribbling away as he took notes on each ref's observations.  I exclaimed, "Lausy, lausy, they need some clarity!"  After all that, the three penalties offset.

It gets better though. At the end of the game I noticed our grandson waving the school photographer over and having him take the photo above.  Inquiring as to what was going on he said, "Mama Boo, that was most fun referee I've ever had. He had us rolling laughing throughout the game with the things he said, so I asked him if I could have a picture with him."

God is in the details of our lives. He is the "most fun Referee." Listen to the prompts He sends and trust him.

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. Psalm 139:1-4

And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it, when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left." Isaiah 30:21
