Listen to His Promptings

Missing the Shiloh butterflies.This one would sit next to me on the dock and even lit on my shoe for quite awhile.

Digging into Day 4 of CBS  this week landed us in Ephesians 6:13-17 and remembering the importance of putting on the armor of God. Dressing in the suggested spiritual armor shields us from the "Devil darts" that fly about everyday. 

Upon finishing the lesson I started to put on an audio book while I was getting ready for church, but felt the Spirit saying, “Why don’t you listen to praise music instead.” Clicking on the contemporary Christian genre on Pandora and I was in for a blessing that truly enhanced what we have been studying. 

Check out these songs!   The song choices God sent me were so much better than my audio book. The last three were totally new to me. If you are just going to do one, go with “Father, Let it Be”  These lyrics had to have come from the Psalms.

 No one can convince me that God isn’t in every detail. He loves us with a steadfast love and works all things together for the good of His purpose.

Ephesians 6:13-17

So use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be standing up. But to do this, you will need the strong belt of truth and the breastplate of God’s approval.  Wear shoes that are able to speed  you on as you preach the Good News of peace with God.  In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan.  And you will need the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit-which is the Word of God.

Pray all the time. 

Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit’s wishes.  

Plead with him, reminding him of your needs, and 

keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere.

Toe Sucking

June 13 If I keep my eyes on God, I won't trip over my own feet. Psalm 25:12 …or allow them to be sucked off by carp!  For as long as I've been on this lake (49 years) we've gone to feed the carp at various marinas.   I have a bag of old bread waiting to be tossed to the carp tomorrow by our grandchildren!   There's a new adventure at a couple of the marinas.  Toe sucking!   For 25 cents you can buy a small scoop of peanut butter to go on your toes. Then the carp suck it off!   I just got a pedicure, so I have an excuse not to participate! What we do need to participate in is keeping our feet on the paths the Lord sets before us. Give careful though to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Proverbs 4:26

Mercy and Grace

  These three grands got wheels  for Christmas! Praying for mercy and grace! 2025 finds me launching off into a new Bible reading plan. Twenty five years ago when our daughter was living in Nashville, she had an amazing group of musician friends who would travel here for long weekends at the lake.  One of those young women is Tara Leigh Cobble, who now hosts a podcast called "The BibleRecap."   https://www.thebiblerecap.com/about On Day 5, while in Job, Tara Leigh addresses the difference in mercy and grace   this way. " Mercy  is when you don't get what you deserve.
