Somehow, in previous years, I've missed the blessing of today's song, " Emmanuel" which came out seven years ago on Hannah Kerr's album called "Christmas Eve in Bethlehem."

Emmanuel, God with us is actually a mind boggling concept. For today's devotional, read the lyrics below before you listen to the song and select the lyrics that give you pause.

"He was not the opne we thought would come. We were looking for a King, but He didn't come in glory.

The Author of the oceans and the sun, still he chose to be written in our story so He could fill our flesh and blood and we could know His love.

It was no mistake that He arrived lost without a home, helpless as a baby. So, if we're feeling lost in our own lives we are not along. He had felt the same thing. Because he lived in flesh and blood we can know His love.

What just hit me is the accessibility we are afforded by the King of the universe. There are few corporations we can walk into without an appointment and have immediate access to the CEO. You can't walk into a court room and approach the judge. You can't even walk into a high school and go straight to the principal, more less gain audience with a governor or world leader. Yet, the Creator of each one of us and all that we can see says, "Here I am, night and day. Come sit with Me and chat, my beloved. You are adored."

Toe Sucking

June 13 If I keep my eyes on God, I won't trip over my own feet. Psalm 25:12 …or allow them to be sucked off by carp!  For as long as I've been on this lake (49 years) we've gone to feed the carp at various marinas.   I have a bag of old bread waiting to be tossed to the carp tomorrow by our grandchildren!   There's a new adventure at a couple of the marinas.  Toe sucking!   For 25 cents you can buy a small scoop of peanut butter to go on your toes. Then the carp suck it off!   I just got a pedicure, so I have an excuse not to participate! What we do need to participate in is keeping our feet on the paths the Lord sets before us. Give careful though to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Proverbs 4:26

Mercy and Grace

  These three grands got wheels  for Christmas! Praying for mercy and grace! 2025 finds me launching off into a new Bible reading plan. Twenty five years ago when our daughter was living in Nashville, she had an amazing group of musician friends who would travel here for long weekends at the lake.  One of those young women is Tara Leigh Cobble, who now hosts a podcast called "The BibleRecap."   https://www.thebiblerecap.com/about On Day 5, while in Job, Tara Leigh addresses the difference in mercy and grace   this way.
