Seasons of Life

I'm wanting another blanket of snow like this where life stills for a moment and we look out in wonder.

While the earth remains,

seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night, shall not cease.

Genesis 8:22

God, how did you ever come up with the four seasons?  Each is so unique and holds within its time a purpose.

Spring     = birth, new beginnings

Summer = growth and abundance

Autumn = a time of change and letting go, but also preparing for the harvest!

Winter    = rest and reflection in the arms of Jesus

There are times I hate to see an earthly season end, but with a sneak peek at what the next season is bringing my heart turns to joyful expectation.  As Paul says in Philippians 4:11  I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  That perspective is possible because we know it is God who controls our circumstances and our seasons.

When we contemplate (dwell on these things) we can see a parallel to our physical lives with the seasons.  The week of this writing we had four funerals on the calendar and Psalm 90:10 was referenced in a sermon I had heard.

As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years. Psalm 90:10

For those of you my age and up, we are in or nearing winter. We can look back on the spring, summer, and fall phases of our lives with fondness and great lessons learned.  Trials that turned to triumphs, challenges that brought change,  and personal growth that brought a deeper understanding and love for others. As much as we want to teach those lessons to others who are coming behind us, they will most likely have to learn them for themselves as we have.

God makes everything beautiful in its own time. Ecclesiastes 3:11
