Overload

One of our sons owns a construction company and his favorite way to destress from the overload is to go to the bottom of the ocean where no one can reach him.
Now that stresses me out while he's on these dive trips, but he's very respectful and texts me at the end of the day saying, "I'm up!"

Moses had a lot on his leadership plate.  In Exodus 33:12-14 we find him conversing with God over this leadership position. He's basically saying, "Would you let me know who is going to help me lead all these people?"  Let's be real. Every mother has felt that way.

Look what God says to Moses: My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
The CEV translation says: I will give you peace.

Hmm, when we have peace we can rest right?

David was an excellent caller outer to God. Have you ever had the mindset David does in the Psalm below?  I'll be honest, I was right there this week.  I'd allowed myself to be so overloaded mentally and emotionally that I wanted us to sell Shiloh, bag writing "Boojoyful" (I still might), and fly away.  Yet, I had no clue where I was heading, because the idea was not from the Lord, and my husband wasn't in agreement to fly along.

Psalm 55:4-8

My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen on me.

Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me.
I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.
I would flee far away and stay in the desert;
I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm.”

David is distraught. He's having some sleepless nights. He feels his enemies surrounding him. He'd like to take flight like a bird.  Maybe a choir of angels singing the Disney song "You've Got A Friend in Me" would cheer him.

We pray for order, tranquility, everything to go right, but that's not life on this earth.

As I read Matthew 11:28-30 the phrase learn from me jumped out. Again and again in scripture we are reminded there will be bumps along the road of life, but God is on the road with us bringing about good that will last for eternity.

Isaiah 43:22, John 16:44, 2 Corinthians  1:3-71, Romans 8:28,  Peter 1:6-7, James 1:2-4

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  Matthew 11:28-30

Well, that's just what I've done writing this post and I feel so much better.  God is the real deal and loves me so well.
