Prayer that Paste Us Together

1978

Pushing together through obstacles like strokes.

Realizing it's a blessing to grow old together.
The best is yet to come.

My husband prayed this powerful prayer from Stormie Omartian over me one day before he left for work.

"Lord, enable Boo and me to forgive each other quickly and completely...Help us to 'be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving,' the way You are to us. (Ephesians 4:32). Give us a sense of humor, especially as we deal with the hard issues of life.  Unite us in faith, beliefs, standards of morality, and mutual trust.  Help us to be of the same mind, to move together in harmony, and to quickly come to mutual agreements about our finances, our children, how we spend our time, and any other decisions that need to be made. In Jesus' name I pray."

Now that's a prayer whose purpose is to paste a marriage together to last a lifetime.

God loves you and has chosen you as his own special people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek and patient.  Put up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven you. Colossians 3:12-13

Lord, right now, I pray for the marriages of all the people I know. May 2025 be a year of marital unity sprinkled with daily joy, laughter and affection. May they have kisses that last more than 6 seconds and hands that hold on at some point each day. Give them ears that yearn to listen with understanding and words that are spoken with the intent to encourage, support and build up. May the strength of their marriage mirror hope for others that may be struggling around them. Most of all Father, remind these partners who have made a covenant before You, that the marriage You intend for them to have is only possibly by the equipping of  Your Holy Spirit and the practice of coming to You with everything first in prayer. In Jesus' name, Amen.
