Heroes

Image
At camo camp we served the boys their meals on a camo table cloth out on the deck and left them to their "boy" talk. Boys often discuss who they are looking up to, who they think is Kool. I came across this song by a young singer named Jordan Rowe and am going to send this to our grandsons. "My hero has a blood stained jersey, caught more fish than a boat can hold, gonna walk on water, wrote the best story ever told...might have died, but He rose." Proverbs 10

Image
Proverbs 10 has a lot to say about lips, mouths and words.  One commentary said, "Speak well, get blessed; speak badly, get blasted."   Check out verses 11-14 in the CEV The words of good people   are a source of life,  but evil hides behind  the words   of the wicked.  Hatred stirs up trouble;  love overlooks the wrongs  that others do.  If you have good sense  it will show when you speak.  But if you are stupid,  you will be beaten  with a stick.  If you have good sense,  you will learn all you can,  but foolish talk  will soon destroy you. Lord, when I open my mouth today may my words bring glory to You and life, laughter, healing, happiness, hope and joy to all the ears who hear them.  Train me up to stop and think before I spew out any words. In Jesus' name. Amen. The Song "Speak" By Trent and Siobhan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeT8LQOffDs

A Thankful Heart

Image
This is the woman who raised me and I will thank God for her always. She exited this earth July 1st at 98 years old and now waits for me in heaven. When my parents were out in the evenings this precious woman would tuck me into bed and then sit outside my bedroom on the steps until I'd fall asleep. When I was older she joked that I only wanted my orange juice served in a little silver cup.   She taught me how to polish silver! One of my favorite activities was walking with her to our neighborhood fire station to buy penny candy. She washed all my clothes and put them away in my room, changed my bed once a week and took me on her afternoon break slipping in the back kitchen door of a neighbor's home where a friend of her's was a housekeeper a few days a week. Gladys had a bedroom, bath and small hallway with a large closet on the lower level of our home.  Her days off were Thursdays and Sundays. Thursdays she stayed in a room in the city that she rented and Sundays she boa...

The campers have verse 22 below engrained in their hearts! Hope the 4th was happy for all of you. May we all exemplify this verse with everyone we encounter this holiday weekend. "This is also how it is with people. The ones who stop doing evil and make themselves pure will become special. Their lives will be holy and pleasing to their Master, and they will be able to do all kinds of good deeds. Run from temptations that capture young people. Always do the right thing. Be faithful, loving, and easy to get along with. Worship with people whose hearts are pure." 2 Timothy 2:21- 22 CEV

The Way

Image
Well, we've been praying for rain and a major thunderstorm hit Sunday night while we were on the boat.  We had barely gotten out of our cove and got slammed.  The boys loved it and using our very skilled Captain, God got us through the storm and safely home. The lyrics to this song go right along with the lessons we are learning about God at camo camp. "Through every battle Through every heartbreak Through every circumstance I believe that You are my fortress Oh, You are my portion And You are my hiding place, oh I believe You are The way, the truth, the life I believe You are The way, the truth, the life I believe Through every blessing Through every promise Through every breath I take I believe that You are Provider Oh, You are Protector You are the One I love, oh I believe You are The way, the truth, the life I believe You are The way, the truth, the life I believe You are Oh, You are Oh, You are And it's a new horizon and I'm set on You And You meet me here today w...

Cousin Camo Camp

Image
Cousin Camo Camp is in session with 5 of our grandsons, so my posting may be sporadic this week.  We are learning lots at Bible Base Camp! Days 1 and 2 we are focusing on God as our Defender and Protector You are my defender. The LORD is my protector; he is my strong fortress. My God is my protection, and with him I am safe. He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe. Psalm 18:1-2   What is the soldier's Psalm? “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and   I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.   He will cover you with his feathers.” Psalm 91:1-4 We are kept in 'the secret place of the Most High'. It is a place where we can stay our entire lives, dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty. God's name is a strong tower that you can run to and find safety. ...

Pure Joy and Wonder

It was a 95 degree day and this little rosy cheeked, red headed, 5 month old and I spent it on our screened porch listening to the birds sing, while watching a ceiling fan attempt to stir us up a breeze. She has a mouth full of teeth trying to break through her gums, so I just let her gnaw on my knuckle.  Next week I think we will sit in a baby pool and try watermelon! While these sweet little granddaughters have been such joy and wonder to watch grow this past year, my pastor husband has spent the past couple months visiting 3 church families with babies in the NICU.  Two were born at 2 pounds and one at 3 pounds.  Two of these miracles have been released to go home.  He says it has been an unbelievable experience to see these premature births produce perfectly formed tiny babies.  One NICU nurse told him, the smallest baby she has seen born and survive is a 10 ounce baby who is now a healthy 11 year old. For you   formed   my inward parts; you...
