A Glimpse

It was so much fun teaming up with this sweet daughter in law to prepare our feast. 
God gives to us in such abundance. Have you ever stopped to thank him for the HUGE variety of foods he created for us?

While yesterday's energies went mostly to celebrating a 16th birthday, getting food on the table and then napping and laying low all afternoon, we did squeeze in some Mama Boo Podcast moments and share a prayer poem that said so much about all that God has given us.


This photo was taken just before our annual treasure hunt began. This year the older grands got to help create clues.  Remember...Matthew 6:21
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Another tradition is playing a card game my parents taught me called "Michigan" the best parts are that it's simple enough for all ages and we get to use my grandfather's poker chips! It revolves around having the opportunity to play one of 4 winning cards.
You don't have a whole lot of choices in this game. Luck plays a huge part.
Now that is going to lead to an excellent Mama Boo Podcast today about luck and choices in where life leads us.  The grands won $1 bills in the treasure hunt. Today we will hit the road and consider the choices we have concerning how we spend our dollars and the joy that comes from the various choices.  Spoiler alert....I think they are going to find giving it away brings great joy.

We introduced a new game this year that was a major hit!  I called it "Top Turkey" and ordered this little turkey trophy. On ETSY I found a game called Thanksgiving Pass the Present that gave instructions on what to do with a present  (in our case the turkey trophy). Round and round the table it went.


For those who love Jesus we are guaranteed winners! He sees each one of us as one of his top creations!

Toe Sucking

June 13 If I keep my eyes on God, I won't trip over my own feet. Psalm 25:12 …or allow them to be sucked off by carp!  For as long as I've been on this lake (49 years) we've gone to feed the carp at various marinas.   I have a bag of old bread waiting to be tossed to the carp tomorrow by our grandchildren!   There's a new adventure at a couple of the marinas.  Toe sucking!   For 25 cents you can buy a small scoop of peanut butter to go on your toes. Then the carp suck it off!   I just got a pedicure, so I have an excuse not to participate! What we do need to participate in is keeping our feet on the paths the Lord sets before us. Give careful though to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Proverbs 4:26

Remember Your Story

Our oldest granddaughter made this bouquet and hand painted card for me.💖 Nothing touches our lives that God doesn't allow.  He has a plan and a purpose, sometimes far into the future, that can be used for His glory. (Jeremiah 29:11) Flash back 40 years and I approached life's downs with an "I can't believe this is happening." and truth be told "How can I fix it?" attitude.   Now that I am older and wiser I see that God truly works all things together for good for those who are called according to His purpose.  (Romans 8:28) I thank God for the stroke 8 years ago and how it mellowed me out (okay some of you are laughing, but it really did). And honestly,  I like getting old. Sure, there are regrets, but there is also value in being able to pass along the wisdom learned from those regrets. God CAN use everything for His good.
