The Lord's Prayer
Jesus, knowing our needs took the time to teach us how to pray. Remembering that Jesus and the Father are one, then this prayer is from our heavenly father himself.
“Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13
"Prayer truly is how we communicate and grow in relationship with the Lord. In our human relationships, intimacy of any kind can only be established through proximity and shared hearts through conversation." Megan Conner
While this is an excellent morning prayer, I've found myself meditating upon it each night as I go to sleep.
"Our Father." Not, just my father. We share the love of the Father with all of humanity and his name is to be honored. There is no one like Him.
"In Heaven" He has a home, a throne and a place we will be welcomed home to where His purposes "will be done," just as they are being accomplished here on earth each day.
All the needs of those who all upon his name are promised to be provided.
Whew, and the need for us to receive forgiveness is a biggie, just as the need for us to extend forgiveness and show mercy to others is required.
Cleaning out a drawer yesterday I came across a note I had jotted down. It read, "A scripture a day keeps temptation away." Asking the Father to help us in this area is an asset as well when it comes to the battle of temptations.
And then there is deliverance- "the action of being rescued or set free."
Simply sing the Lord's Prayer this day.
