God Shows Up
As our discussion progressed and we were referencing ways not to "blow our tops," I said, "Ah, this is why I was to bring the tongue depressor.
After that she asked me what the word sasquatch meant on the notebook I was jotting things into. I told her I had no clue. I guessed it was a notebook left here by a grandchild and it only had a about 20 pages of paper in it. I had just quickly grabbed it up. Flipping the back cover open I found two pages of random notes I had written at some point. It could have been years ago, this notebook had been tucked away in a drawer.
What I had recorded, words from James, was EXACTLY what we both needed to hear. Included on that page was James 1:19 and two key point words from the sermon we had just heard the day before. We were both saying, "Whoa, you can't tell me God isn't the real deal and here speaking to us right now!"
Obviously, on the day the penmanship hit that paper I was studying the entire book of James. So, here goes...I will type up those key points here on Boojoyful and implant them even more deeply in my heart.
Position yourself in a place today where God can show up!
James
1:2 Be glad, even if you have a lot of trouble.
1:3 You know you learn by having your faith tested.
1:5 If you need wisdom you should ask God...you must have faith and not doubt.
(Doubting people cannot be trusted.)
1:12 God will bless you, if you don't give up when your faith is being tested.
1:19 Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to grow angry.
1:20 If you are angry, you cannot do any of the good things God wants done.
1:22 Obey God's message! Don't fool yourselves by just listening to it...don't just hear and forget.
James
2:8 Love others as much as we love ourselves.
James
3:16 When people are jealous or selfish, they cause trouble and do all sorts of cruel things.
3:17 The wisdom that comes from above leads us to be pure, friendly, gentle, sensible, kind, helpful, genuine and sincere.
James
4:2 You won't get what you want by fighting and arguing. You should pray about it...your prayers are not answered because you pray just for selfish reasons...
4:7 Surrender to God! Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.
4:11 Don't say cruel things about others.
James
5:13 If you are having trouble, you should pray.
5:19 If any followers have wandered away from the truth try to lead them back.
