"Switch"
A switch isn't something you wanted when I was a child. This grandson had been saving his money knowing that on his 13th birthday the new Nintendo Switch game console (honestly, I had to Google to find out how to even define the device) was coming out. He had shared earlier that all he wanted for his birthday was $ and for me to take him shopping.
My husband drove us to the city and I was searching, Target, Best Buy and Walmart on my phone to see if the thing was in stock. Every site in store and online said, "Sold out."
Dreading the disappointment to possibly come on this special birthday I said, "Let's pray and ask the Lord to guide us to the right place if this is what He wants for you." I'm thinking...It's probably NOT.
Never had I ever been in a "GameStop" store. It was definitely foreign territory. The lines were long. People had obviously lined up early to get their hands on this new video game gismo. My husband and I stood in the check out line, while our grandson perused the store. Leaning in to whisper in my ear, my husband said, "If they took a photo of all the people in this store and said, 'Select the people who do not belong in this picture,' it would be US!"
The special combo console and game deal was all sold out, but you could buy them separately for $30 more. He had to ask us for a temporary loan until he could access his savings account, but he left one happy 13 year old.
Switching the scenario I thought, As much as I felt like "a fish out of water" in that store I was willing to go along with our grandson, but how would the people in that store feel if a loved one asked them to please go into church with them."
Stop right now and think about the things we do for love.
Now think what God did out of love for all of us. He switched things up for sure. Instead of us dying for our sins, we've been forgiven and redeemed by the precious blood of his only Son.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24
