Beside Still Waters
This past spring I attended a "Gifts of the Spirit" workshop led by our daughter. It was a powerful time of teaching, worship, listening and then getting alone with a couple women whom you did not know to listen and see if the Spirit would speak. WOW!
So, much goodness occurred, but one bizarre thing was that the Lord prompted one of the women sitting at the same table (a total stranger) to draw the same sketch of peaks and valleys by still waters that I had drawn. She lives a couple hours away, but I said to her, "Hmm, I think we need to get together." She quickly agreed. I filed it in the back of my mind.
Since that time the song "Still Waters" has come before me several times, an old bookmark fell onto the floor in front of me one day with a very similar sketch to what I had drawn and it had Psalm 23 as the scripture reference.
The question now is how obedient will I be to follow through and seek what God is calling to happen beside still waters? I've been dragging my feet. I began writing this entry in April, but it's just been sitting in my archives box.
Last night we hosted a women's event we called a "praise and prayer potluck" beside the still waters of Shiloh and it was a hallelujah evening. Storms were swirling all around our property 30 minutes before the guests were to arrive, but the rain held off for three hours until the women were heading to their cars and then the rain and lightening bolts burst forth.
God was with us and on the move. Hallelujah Father, thank you for refreshing us and filling so many of us with your Holy Spirit.
Where is God calling you to serve him? If you don't know, go sit beside still waters and ask Him to reveal his plan. He is faithful to show us where to join him.
Psalm 23
You, Lord, are my shepherd. I will never be in need.
You let me rest in fields of green grass.
You lead me to streams of peaceful water, and you refresh my life.
You are true to your name, and you lead me along the right paths.
I may walk through valleys as dark as death, but I won't be afraid.
You are with me, and your shepherd's rod makes me feel safe.
You treat me to a feast, while my enemies watch.
You honor me as your guest, and you fill my cup until it overflows.
Your kindness and love will always be with me each day of my life,
and I will live forever in your house, Lord.
