His Work/Her Emotions

A friend has a pet squirrel named Scarlet.  This squirrel comes in her house for treats, but this particular morning Scarlet joined my friend during her quiet time as she was reading God's Word!

On a Monday morning, following two nights of tossing and turning due to too much on my mind,  I told my husband I was going to try to go back to sleep and hopefully would fall asleep before he left for work.  I listed off several things I thought we needed to accomplish that particular week. A dermatology appointment, getting new glasses following an optometrist appointment, talking to a landscaper and tree person, meet with our home security company concerning some issues...At that point he stopped me and said, "Not this week. I have a lot on me work wise."

I knew he had, as he'd been one of my first prayers in the middle of the night.

With the kindest spirit he said, "Let's get out our prayer books and pray over each other."  We had neglected that for over two weeks.

We chuckled and thanked the Lord as we opened to the days we were on in the Stormie Omartian books. The one I was to pray for him was titled "His Work."

The one he prayed over me was "Her Emotions." It was spot on.

Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life.  Proverbs 4:23

"Lord, I am so grateful that You have made my wife to be a woman of deep thoughts and feelings.  I know that You have intended this for good, but I also know that the enemy of her soul will try to use if for evil.  Help me to discern when he is doing that and enable me to pray accordingly.  Protect her from the author of lies and help her to cast down 'every  high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.' (2 Corinthians 10:5) In Jesus' name I pray."  Stormie Omartian

These are the things that remind me God is ever present and all knowing.

Turn to Jesus!
