Think About This

Fever and flu grasped this sweet family the week of Christmas,
but they persevered with smiles and opening a few presents early!

Think about this...God is creating something new every second. On average, 250 babies are born every minute!  Add to that plants springing forth, the animal kingdom reproducing and all that is occurring beneath the sea and we know God is constantly in motion and up to newness and good.

Here's an even more exciting thought...people around the world are coming to know Christ and becoming a new creation!

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."  2 Corinthians 5:17

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."  Ezekiel 36:26

I enjoy newness!
A new outfit!  A new haircut! A new friend!

Freshness appeals to me as well.
Fresh herbs and vegetables! Fresh flowers! Fresh sheets on the bed!

None of those earthly pleasures can compare to the newness and freshness that occurs in our spiritual lives when we are surrendered to the Lord. It's a thrill that sometimes seems unreal, because it's not as familiar as what the world tells us satisfies.  Ponder this...You know that spiritual refreshment, when the Lord stirs your heart? Well, it is an  inkling of what awaits us in eternity. Now there's a happy thought for this day!

"Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him victory!  Psalm 98:1

The greatest of "new things" we experience God's are mercies, which are new every morning.

"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions family not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23

Are you shouting hallelujah?

If that's not enough think about how every new sin we commit...the corrupt thoughts, the jealousy and envy, the worries and fears that wander across our minds is waiting to be newly forgiven when we come before the Lord and confess our sins.

May we be found faithful to pray this each day in 2020...

"Create in me a new, clean heart, O God, filled with clean thoughts and right desires."
Psalm 51:10 TLB
