Proverbs 18
"Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment. A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.” Proverbs 18:1-2
"Tell the heavens to tremble with fear! You, my people, have sinned in two ways—you have rejected me, the source of life-giving water, and you've tried to collect water in cracked and leaking pits dug in the ground." Jeremiah 2:12-13 CEV
At first, I interpreted v. 13 to mean we have tried to collect water by trusting in "crackpots." The definition of a crackpot is "an eccentric or foolish person."
God tells us in Proverbs 18:15
An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
...in the CEV
Everyone with good sense wants to learn.
At the moment I was studying I realized our church's pastors were in their weekly staff meeting. These nine pastors cover the needs of 5 church campuses, but they gather four mornings a week to pray together and one morning a week to meet, pray and gain wisdom from one another as men called to serve the Lord in full time ministry. They know the importance of accountability and the value of learning from one another.
We all need wisdom. We all need the Lord.
