Endurance and Encouragement

It's field hockey season and we are so thankful to be able to get to some of our granddaughter's games in VA Beach.  Me oh, my! This sport takes endurance, focus and courage!

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus.  Romans 15:5 ESV  

Our world needs to live in harmony with one another. I do not like controversy and my heart aches over the political and religious unrest that comes between people. I'm all for Danny Gokey's life principal..."Love God and love people."  

The memory of 9/11 will be forever ingrained on my mind. So may lives lost and so many others forever changed. Another day that left me shell shocked was at 16 years old when  grandfather was murdered for money.

Such a tragedy this week to see 31 year old Charlie Kirk shot and killed.  Our grandchildren who followed him are in disbelief that this could happen. This young man, who welcomed peaceful debate and discussion, exhibited endurance, focus, courage and a love for God and his country. 

May we all live lives that desire to show love and patience to everyone. My heart aches for his wife, children and parents.  

God is the one who makes us patient and cheerful. I pray that he will help you live at peace with each other, as you follow Christ.  Romans 15:5 CEV

Toe Sucking

June 13 If I keep my eyes on God, I won't trip over my own feet. Psalm 25:12 …or allow them to be sucked off by carp!  For as long as I've been on this lake (49 years) we've gone to feed the carp at various marinas.   I have a bag of old bread waiting to be tossed to the carp tomorrow by our grandchildren!   There's a new adventure at a couple of the marinas.  Toe sucking!   For 25 cents you can buy a small scoop of peanut butter to go on your toes. Then the carp suck it off!   I just got a pedicure, so I have an excuse not to participate! What we do need to participate in is keeping our feet on the paths the Lord sets before us. Give careful though to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Proverbs 4:26

Mercy and Grace

  These three grands got wheels  for Christmas! Praying for mercy and grace! 2025 finds me launching off into a new Bible reading plan. Twenty five years ago when our daughter was living in Nashville, she had an amazing group of musician friends who would travel here for long weekends at the lake.  One of those young women is Tara Leigh Cobble, who now hosts a podcast called "The BibleRecap."   https://www.thebiblerecap.com/about On Day 5, while in Job, Tara Leigh addresses the difference in mercy and grace   this way.
