Read ALL the Fine Print

I got snookered!  Our luggage is bedraggled and on Instagram I saw these hard case suitcases that come with bells and whistles....cup holder, easy open front section for computer/phone and even a built in phone/laptop charger.  And woot! there was $100 off Labor Day sale.

The product arrived and there were no instructions as to how to power what I thought was a built in power bank.  To Google I went. Video after video showed this impressive luggage and how to plug in your phone, but not how to charge the suitcase.

Finally, I found a video stating the deception in the advertising.  You have to purchase a separate battery pack.  Realizing I could go to TJMaxx and get a new suitcase for half the price I thought I'd send the cases I purchased back.  The video was still running and said, "If you are thinking you want to return the suitcase be sure you have read the fine print. You must make a request. The return must be made in 7 days.  You have to pay a restocking fee and pay the return shipping."  Lesson learned...check out Google for warnings before Instagram ads suck you in.

In the Bible it's not the fine print, but rather the further print that changes intent of the actual verse, but people have a tendency to want to make scripture form to our own thoughts. Take a look at Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Many people twist this verse to read... “In all things God works for the [material] good of everybody.”

Nope it's not talking about everybody, but those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

What do you think the all things and the good are referencing in the actual verse?

I think all things are even the adversities we go through that cause suffering in our lives.

And the good?  Well, the next verses says, For those whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.  The good would be the suffering which brings spiritual maturity making us more into likeness Jesus.

The whole Bible points us to Jesus. The the point for us to remember is that we are called to grow in Jesus' likeness.

"The Old Testament is like a room full of treasure, but the room is dimly lit.  It is filled with prophets that predict him, patterns that preview him, and promises that anticipate him."  B. B. Warfield (paraphased).

"From beginning to end, your Bible is an epic story about Jesus." Tommy Nelson
