What Would It Cost You to Praise?

Photoa are of my usual getaway with Jesus spot.  It used to have a gas fireplace, so we could even meet in winter.

Remember, these posts are real life, I'm couldn't make this stuff up.

In 2019/2020 my in-laws both passed away.  My mother-in-law passed first and with my father-in-law's health not good, he did not want to have a service for her. Then he passed away during COVID and a service never happened.  Their remains were stored in a cabinet in our garage.

My brother in law, who lives in NY,  has been making arrangements with a cemetery where other family members are buried here in VA to place their remains. My husband went to retrieve the remains, but could find them nowhere.  Panic set in.
What in the world could have happened?  I texted our daughter, "PRAY, long story, but we can't find your grandparents remains!"

Feeling like we'd searched everywhere, I moved the car out of the garage and stood in the middle and prayed. "Lord, please help us find them!" Hallelujah!  Grabbing a broom handle to open a very high cabinet, there they were!  I then remembered a few years ago thinking it was best to place them somewhere the grandchildren wouldn't come across them when in the garage.

With a great sigh of relief, my husband headed on his way. We both had been navigating thoughts on how to get out of this dilemma.

Standing in the garage, after this mishap, I decided I might as well stay and clean out some clutter.  Who knows what else I could have misplaced.  I started to put on an audio book to pass the time and the Lord said,

"What would it cost you to praise me?"

UGH, what a real life question.  What keeps you from pausing to praise the Lord throughout your day?  If it's someone, what if we asked them to join in  the praise?

That question stopped me in my tracks and I turned on Pandora to a contemporary Christian station and Matthew West was singing "Me on Your Mind."  The simple act of turning to praise reframed my outlook on the whole day.

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!  For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. Psalm 95:1-3
