Love-Can Always Be Improved Upon

February 25

My word for the day was improve. The verses speaking to this word are great to take to heart.

"Do your best to improve your faith.  You can do this by adding goodness, understanding,
self-control, patience, devotion to God, concern for others, and love.
If you keep growing in this way, it will show that what you know about our Lord Jesus Christ has made your lives useful and meaningful. But it you don't grow, you are like someone who is nearsighted or blind, and you have forgotten that your past sins are forgiven."
2 Peter 1:5-9

For Valentine's Day I gave my husband these two little prayer books. One for him and one for me. We have committed to read these prayers to one another each morning in an earnest attempt to love one another more deeply.

Here is a day's sampling. We both exclaimed, "That is just what I needed," after receiving the prayer.

Her Spirit
Lord, help my wife to be so filled with Your Spirit that people sense Your presence when they are in her presence.  As Your daughter, I know she wants to serve You, but help her to understand how and when so that she may glorify You in all she does. Guide her in everything, so that she can become the dynamic, mighty woman of God You want her to be.  Give her knowledge of Your will and enable her to stay in the center of it. Help her to trust You will all her heart and not depend on her own understanding.  May she acknowledge You in all her ways.  (Proverbs 3:5-6)  In Jesus’ name I pray.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”  Romans 8:16

His Work
"Lord, I pray that You would bless the work of my husband’s hands. May his labor bring not only favor, success, and prosperity, but great fulfillment as well.  If the work he is doing is not in line with Your perfect will for his life, reveal it to him.  Show him what he should do differently and guide him down the right path.  Give him strength, faith, and a a vision for the future so he can rise above any propensity for laziness.  May he never run from work out of fear, selfishness, or a desire to avoid responsibility.
On the other hand, help him to see that he doesn’t have to work himself to death for man’s approval.  Give him the ability to enjoy his success without striving for more.  Help him to excel, but free him from the pressure to do so.”  In Jesus’ name I pray.

Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.”  Proverbs 22:29
