In the Meantime

April 9

While I’m up for Jesus coming back today, in the meantime, I’m stepping out in faith believing God has a plan and a purpose for each of us who love Him.

There is that word...the meantime.  The in-between, waiting time. We all face it and usually hate it.  As I looked at the word the mean  part jumped out at me. A
s an adjective the word is defined as unkind, spiteful, unfair. That very well might be how we view the lulls in life that keep us from instant gratification.  We want our answers now!  We want our answers to conform to our desires.

We need to be covered in prayer and armed with the Sword of the Spirit, so when the mean times come we remember whose we are and how deeply we are loved and protected.  God is up to good and training us in the meantime.

Joseph had some tough, meantimes, that were woven together for good. His brothers threw him in a pit and then sold him into slavery.  He came out on top!

"Meanwhile, the Midianites sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, Pharoah's officer, the captain of the bodyguard." Genesis 37:35-36

Jesus taught his disciples many lessons in "the meantimes" of his earthly ministry.

"In the meantime when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first, 'Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.  Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shale heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops."  Luke 12:1-3

When our meantimes come, and they will, instead of seeing them as an unfair intrusion let's seek the Lord, remembering how faithful He is...even in the meantime He's up to good.
