Timing

Thanks to a girlfriend who took these photos and caught the foliage showing off.

The Peaks of Otter are made up by three mountain peaks in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
These peaks are Sharp Top, Flat Top,  and Harkening Hill.
They overlook the town of Bedford, Virginia.
Traveling to visit us here at Shiloh who have numerous views of these peaks.

Where did the quote "Timing is everything" come from. Googling that phrase (finding no answer) took me to a search of who is "they" when people say "They say...".  No one knows who they are! I think that statement is equivalent to when we'd say to our parents:
"Everyone is going. Everyone is doing it."  Just some random thoughts of mine today.

It was interesting the day I after I wrote this, I was in church and as I walked into the worship center, up on the big screen was a verse the pastor was teaching on related to Paul in 2 Corinthians 10:10. It caught my attention for sure.

For they say, “His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account.”

Back to the issue of timing.  We (that would be my husband and myself) missed out on making time to enjoy the peak leaf season together.  Yes, all we have to do is look out our window, drive down Moonriver or over the mountain to enjoy the vibrant colors, or look at the piles of leaves he has been blowing everyday for weeks now, but we seemed to have been on specific missions and in "go" mode from morning until night.  Finally, he took a day off last week to simply be still and intentionally take in the beauty that surrounds us.

By the time we slowed, we had missed the most beautiful moments.

With my camera in hang we began our foliage drive and as we realized what we missed I said to him, "This is what happens related to some people accepting Jesus as their Savior. They have reasons for procrastinating."  Excuses of not wanting to sacrifice Sundays, give up an affair, a lifestyle, or relationships that might not go well with Jesus in their life are given. They are afraid of what they might loose (even a job or spouse) if they would be seen attending church or a Bible study.

What they do not realize is the blessings they are missing here on earth and of course, the ultimate gamble of Jesus returning or them dying before they accept God's gift of grace and eternal life.

Timing is certainly something to consider when forever is at stake.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name,

he gave the right to become children of God.
