A Needle in a Haystack

A Needle in a haystack or the equivalent...a needle on my bedside table full of clutter.

The project before me was stitching in pull strings on 96 pieces of fabric for a pumpkin project for the upcoming community fall festival our church hosts. I had one tapestry needle that was working well for the thick embroidery floss involved in this craft project, but I misplaced it. Finally, I ordered another one online but the projected arrival was in 2-3 days. So, I surrendered and set the fabric circles aside.

That evening, scooting things out of the way on my bedside table, which I had searched earlier along with every in of floor between our bedroom and our living room, the little needle rolled out from beneath some pom pom art our 3 year old granddaughter had made for me.

The whisper from the Lord..."Do you search for Me like you did for that needle?"

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! 1 Chronicles 16:11

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3.

The song lyric "Jesus is calling oh, sinner come home" came to mind. Do we ever stop to think Jesus is waiting for us to turn to him, to allow him into our joys and dilemmas and seek his advice and guidance?

Before we look for anything else today, let's look for Jesus.
