Moving Mountains Session 4 Chapters 7 & 8

Park City, Utah

Y'all are probably ready for me to be through with this study on "Praying with passion, confidence and authority." But Chapter 8 is a doozy you don't want to miss.

Session 4

Chapter 7

“My Father is always at work to this very day, and I, too, am working.” John 5:17

God loves it when we ask.  (Don’t we as parents like it when our children ask for advice.)

“He (God) uses trials and tribulation to cause us to seek him with all our hearts…there is also the beauty of humility that he is cultivating in the human heart; it takes humility to ask."

Remember:

“We know who God is and who we are.  We know what is going on in the world. We understand the invasion, and that we are partners with God invoking the kingdom.  We know prayer is not begging God, nor is it merely a zap.  So, let us kill this religious deception with an axe and bury it forever. It was not given to us by Jesus.”

Chapter 8 Consecrate Yourselves

Don’t rush into prayer. Consecration requires time and focus.

"There is a way things work.  We are in a collision of kingdoms, and it takes intentionality to bring things under and into the kingdom of God...Consecration is the fresh act of dedicating yourself, your home, your finances, a relationship, a job, your sexuality, whatever needs God’s grace-deliberately and intentionally to Jesus, bringing it fully into his kingdom and under his rule.

Moses and Joshua were instructed to tell the people to consecrate themselves.

Exodus 19:10-11

“Consecrate  yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” Joshua 3:5

New Testament

Acts 13:1-4

"Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”  Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus."

“First they consecrated themselves, meaning they dedicated themselves a fresh to God; they renounced every way they has wandered from him; they presented their lives, their gifting, and their calling completely to Jesus, to be filled again with his Spirit, to be his and his alone."

I looked up the definition of renounce  in the Cambridge dictionary-“To say formally or publicly that you no longer own, support, believe on, or have a connection with something.” Biblically we are called to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions. We must renounce the lies from the devil.

So much more, but I will leave you with that and the reminder
there is a battle going on and there are evil powers doing horrible things.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. John 10:10

Your enemy the devil  prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
